greed ('grEd)
Mindlessly toiling with a shovel in hand, Greed is locked into a slavery of its own desires. Torn open for
the world to examine and scrutinize, Greed is a truly disgusting sin. It struggles endlessly to possess things it
does not need, laboring to its own destruction for some golden prize just beyond the next horizon. Unscrupulous
greed will destroy anything to gain that which it feels it must have, no matter how useless. The sad fact being
that the things it comes to possess are initially unimportant, but eventually Greed places an almost worshiping
status to them. Like Greed's mask, these things lock themselves to us outside the reach of grasping fingers, until
they become so grown in place that removing them would be terminal. The sad irony is, that these things were
never important to begin with. Greed fights itself and others for useless trinkets, placing a god-like status of
importance upon them, instead of searching for that which truly matters. Those things that no amount of labor
will bestow upon us.
